25.4-M worth of marijuana burn down in Kalinga, Benguet

A total of 106,140 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P25.4 million were burned down in Kalinga and Benguet by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) through a three-day joint operation.

According to authorities, 26,000 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P7 million were uprooted and burned down in the 2,600-square meter site on Jan. 24 to 25. 

Meanwhile, another operation was held in Brgy, Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, where authorities seized and burned 65,000 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P14.8 million in a 9,000-square meter site.

In a separate operation on Jan. 25 to 26, 2023, Pasil municipal police station (MPS), Balbalan MPS, Tanudan MPS, Tinglayan MPS, Police Intervention Unit, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Team Alpha of Kalinga Provincial Police Office (PPO); Regional Mobile Force Battalion; and PDEA eradicated marijuana in Chumanchil, Brgy. Loccong in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

On 1,000 square meters of land, operatives uprooted and burned 10,000 fully-grown marijuana plants with an estimated worth of P2 million.

On January 26, Kibungan MPS, Benguet PPO, and PDEA-Cordillera uprooted and burned 2,800 fully-grown marijuana with an estimated standard drug price of P560,000.

On the other hand, three kilograms of dried marijuana stalks worth P360,000 were burned on site. – gb
