Two dogs in Sampaloc, Manila recently made the rounds on social media for patiently waiting outside for their dead owner to come back.

According to rescue center Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), the dogs’ owner suddenly died of cardiac arrest last Dec. 28, 2022.

“Since then, these two dogs [have] stayed outside their master’s previously rented apartment waiting,” AKF wrote on its Facebook page.

“They are at the front door every single day. Not understanding that their master is never coming back,” it added.

AKF said they are being temporarily fed by a neighbor while waiting for the dogs’ new owner.

The rescue center said it will take temporary custody of the dogs in its rehabilitation center in Tarlac.

“It is just not safe for the dogs to be roaming as they are exposed to possible impounding or accidents,” AKF said.

AKF said it got in touch with the deceased owner’s relative and said they plan to take the dogs in but are also considering rehoming the two. –ag
