Minor damages reported

Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) assured it is currently coordinating with OCD Regional Office and local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices (DRRMOs) to conduct assessment and monitor all affected areas.

In an incident report, the OCD said only minor damages were reported, of which, the majority were residential houses.

Several minor injuries were also reported. Moreover, power, water, and communication supplies remain uninterrupted, according to OCD.

“As a country prone to frequent earthquakes, we would like to remind the public the importance of ‘duck, cover, and hold’ protocol’ during earthquake in order to minimize the effects and number of casualties,” OCD said.

“We would also like to stress the importance of proper compliance to the National Building Code to prevent further damage and casualties,” it added.  –ag
