The remains of a Fililipina killed in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on Feb. 6 will be repatriated to the Philippines, the Philippine Embassy in Ankara said Saturday, Feb. 11.
Wilma Abulad Tezcan, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), was married to a Turkish national, according to the Embassy.
“As requested by the daughter and with consent of the husband, the Embassy is arranging the immediate repatriation of the body of Teszcan,” it added.
“Her family in the Philippines is seeking consent from her husband, regarding the treatment of her human remains.”
The Department of Foreign Affairs reported that two Filipinos were among the over 23,000 people who died in the strong quake.
