The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Tuesday, Feb. 21, that they are now over 90% “ready” for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this year.

Comelec spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco said in a Laging Handa briefing that as soon as the final decision of the Supreme Court on when the elections will be, a calendar of activities and filing of Certificates of Candidacy will begin.

“As of the latest update, Comelec said that barangay official ballots were 88% done, whilst 90% on the [Sangguniang Kabataan]. It is expected to be completed this February,” he added.

Laudiangco also noted that the upcoming elections are largely manual, with the exceptions of three barangays. – gb
