The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the local government of Makati on Tuesday, Feb. 21, unveiled three Adopt-A-Park project sites in the city.

The newly inaugurated parks are the EDSA-Buendia Park, EDSA-Pinagkaisahan Park, and the Magallanes Interchange Phase A-Mini Park.

The MMDA said these parks have a combined lot area of 3,000 square meters.

“These parks could give the residents of Makati the opportunity to spend quality time among members of the families and communities,” said MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes.

The three parks incorporated hardscape features and landscape designs by the Department of Environmental Services of Makati City.

Makati City Administrator Atty. Claro Certeza said they “will do our best to protect and preserve these beautiful parks for the benefit of my fellow Makatizens.”

The project was conceptualized in 2021 by former MMDA Chairman and now Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.

It aims to develop underused parks in each of the Metro Manila local government units by enhancing their usability and altering them into functional green parks. -ag
