The National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) issued a reminder to the visiting public to treat art and specimens on display with utmost respect.

This after a video of a museum guest filming a TikTok using an art display as a selfie stand made the rounds on social media.

“With that said, the NMP would like to urge all visitors and museum-goers to adhere to our Visitor Guidelines, and treat works of art and specimens on display with utmost care and respect, especially during National Arts Month,” NMP said in an advisory.

“The NMP would also like to encourage all guests to serve as stewards of our collections and do their part in the protection, preservation, and dissemination of the Legacy of Filipino people,” it added.

According to its Visitor Guidelines, tripods and video cameras are prohibited inside the museum buildings.

Taking pictures is allowed inside the museum premises, but the use of camera flash and the recording of videos are strictly prohibited.

Guests are also disallowed from touching the paintings, sculptures, and other objects in display.

The Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
