‘Amihan’ to bring rain showers across Luzon, Visayas Monday

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring rain showers across Luzon and most of the Visayas on Monday, Feb. 27, the weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said areas that would experience rain showers are Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon.

Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate with at times heavy rains, it added.

Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms, and may experience flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Light rains due to the northeast monsoon will prevail over the rest of the country, but no significant impact is expected.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecast over the entire archipelago.

The northern, eastern, western and southern seaboards of Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of the Visayas and Mindanao will have rough to very rough seas.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves. – gb
