Wet Wednesday in Luzon, E. Visayas due to 2 weather systems

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

Rains will prevail across Luzon and Eastern Visayas due to the northeast monsoon and the shear line, the weather bureau said Wednesday, March 1.

The shear line will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Sorsogon, Masbate, and Eastern Visayas.

These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5:00 a.m. bulletin.

Rains caused by the northeast monsoon will prevail over Cagayan Valley, the rest of Bicol Region, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro.

Flash floods or landslides are also possible in these areas due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon will also cause light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, but no significant impact is expected, according to PAGASA.

The rest of the country, on the other hand, will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the whole country will still experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the northern, western, and eastern seaboards of Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of the Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small vessels not to venture into the sea, and alerted larger sea vessels against big waves. – gb
