NHCP to launch 100-day countdown for 125th anniversary of PH independence

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will launch on Saturday, March 4, a 100-day countdown to mark the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence at Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite.

Among the attendees are NHCP Chairperson Dr. Emmanuel F. Calairo, Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo, and Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

Part of the program is display of flags representing local government units and other national agencies, with musical numbers from Banda Kawayan, Banda Matanda, Imusicappela, and Bughaw Folkloric Group.

Local artist Nyoy Volante, Mikkie Bradford-Volante, Lara Maigue, and Gian Magdangal will also sing the theme song “Samu’t Saring Iisa” written and composed by Kent Charcos.

A fireworks display will mark the end of the night.

Meanwhile, a press conference will take place on the museum grounds at 4 PM prior to the launch.

The NHCP is the national agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, heraldry and administration of historic sites and structures. – gb
