A fire broke out at Baguio City Public Market on Saturday night, March 11, the city public information office reported.

According to the City Fire Marshal Supt. Marisol Odiver, the fire originated in Block 4 extension area at the “wagwagan section near the chicken livestock.”

The initial estimated cost of damages was about P24 million.

City public information office said the public market resumes its operations except for Block 4, Block 3, and the caldero section where the fire razed.

“The city will fast-track the relocation of the affected vendors for them to resume operation as soon as possible,” it said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Social Welfare and Development Office at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday began its distribution of assistance to affected market vendors. – cf
