The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed Wednesday, March 15, the appointment of Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil.

Prior to her confirmation, lawmakers recognized the official’s credentials as a former reporter, a lawyer, as well as her experience in public service.

Garafil also assured the government’s fight against disinformation during her term.

She welcomed the confirmation in a statement, saying she is “honored and humbled” for the support.

“Special thanks to the members of the Commission on Appointments for their vote of confidence. It is truly an honor,” she said, as she also thanked her former colleagues and media partners “for their kind words.”

“Tunay kayong inspirasyon upang mas lalo ko pang pagbutihin ang aking sinumpaang tungkulin,” she said.

Garafil also thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. “Napakalaking karangalan na makapaglingkod sa inyo kasama niyo para sa sambayanang Pilipino.” – With reports from Daniel Manalastas  – gb
