The National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, popularly known as the Antipolo Cathedral, will assume its “international shrine” status beginning March 25.

According to Antipolo Cathedral, it has received the decree sent by the Holy See elevating the church to the rank of international shrine, which was first petitioned in June 2022.

March 25 coincides with the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord and the anniversary of the departure of the sacred image of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage from Acapulco, Mexico to the Philippines.

“We are now in full anticipation of the solemn declaration of our international shrine in the coming months,” the cathedral said.

This declaration makes Antipolo Cathedral the first international shrine in Southeast Asia, third in Asia, and 11th worldwide. – gb
