A traffic enforcer died after he was run over by a trailer truck in Quezon City on Wednesday, March 22.
The victim was identified as Jeffrey Ronquillo Antolin, a 35 year-old member of the Traffic and Transportation Management Department (TTMD) of Quezon City.
Based on the security camera footage, Ronquillo was seen assisting pedestrians crossing in a portion of A. Bonifacio Avenue in Barangay Balingasa.
However, the trailer truck continued to move until it hit and ran over the victim.
The truck driver told Paghiligan, who was with the victim during the incident, that the truck’s brake malfunctioned.
Paghiligan doubted the suspect’s claim.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will conduct a forensic examination on the truck to determine if the driver’s claim was true. It will also check the roadworthiness of the truck.
The victim’s sister is asking for help from the local government of Quezon City to support the victim’s children.
Antolin added that she will not stop until they get justice for her brother.
The driver of the truck will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide along with the operator of the truck. –Report form Noel Talacay/KC-ag
