SWS: 9 out of 10 Filipinos OK voluntary wearing of face masks

By Christine Fabro

Nine out of 10 Filipinos agree with voluntary wearing of face masks in indoor and outdoor settings, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll.

Latest survey conducted by SWS in December 2022 revealed that 64% of adult Filipinos aged 18 and above “strongly approve” of the voluntary wearing of face masks.

Meanwhile, 27% of them “somewhat approve,” while  4% are “undecided”. Some 3% “somewhat disapprove” of the voluntary use of face masks, with only 1% “strongly disapprove.”

However, about 54% of the respondents said they will still continue using face masks every time they leave the house.

In terms of Filipino household heads making their children wear face masks in face-to-face classes, 65% “strongly agree” and 26% “somewhat agree.”

The fourth quarter 2022 SWS was conducted nationwide from December 10 to 14, 2022 among 1,200 adult Filipino respondents aged 18 and above. – gb
