The Department of Agriculture (DA) spearheaded this year’s celebration of the Filipino Food Month (FFM) with a series of events focusing on promoting Filipino cuisine and culinary traditions.

In a ceremonial launch on Monday, April 3, DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban said the annual celebration of the FFM “aims that our vast culinary tradition and treasures should be appreciated, preserved, and promoted to ensure the transmission to future generations.”

Meanwhile, in a video message, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. encouraged Filipinos to join the celebration to “further understand and strengthen our identity.”

The President expressed his optimism that the events will give more acknowledgment to the role of local food providers including farmers and fisherfolk in the government’s bid to achieve national food security.

“Let us develop initiative that will lead to deeper appreciation of Filipino cuisine and culture, both here in the country and in the rest of the world,” he stressed.

This year’s set of events is guided by the theme, “Pagkaing Sariling Atin, Mahalin at Pagyamanin.”

The DA is collaborating with the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement, the Department of Tourism, and the National Commission on Culture and the Arts for these activities:
