The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Saturday, April 15, began the imposition of maximum rates on driving schools’ fees for theoretical driving and practical driving courses.

This after LTO and driving school associations agreed to provide standardized and affordable driver’s education.

“Nagkaisa ang Land Transportation Office at ang grupo ng mga driving school sa pagbibigay ng mas abot-kayang halaga ng driver’s education, partikular na ang inaprubahang maximum prescribed rates na paiiralin na simula sa Abril 15,” the LTO said in a release on Thursday, April 13.

“Kasunod ito ng idinaos kanina (April 13) na pulong ng LTO sa mga miyembro ng Association of Accredited Driving Schools of the Philippines, Inc. (AADSPI), Philippine Association of LTO Accredited Driving Schools (PALADS), at iba [pang] kumpanya ng driving school sa bansa,” it added.

Based on LTO’s Memorandum Circular No. JMT 2023-2390, the maximum fee for theoretical and practical driving courses for motorcycle drivers is set at P3,500.

Meanwhile, driving schools may collect a maximum amount of P5,000 for light vehicle drivers who will enroll to the said courses.

LTO earlier said that the standardization of fees is in response to the various complaints that the agency is receiving about the unreasonable driving course fees. -ag
