An official of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) said the water level of Angat Dam will remain sufficient until the end of the year.

Engr. Jose Dorado Jr., MWSS Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Technical Operations Group, said the water level is currently at 195.78 meters, higher by two meters than the level last year.

He said the agency has been working closely with the National Water Resources Board, National Irrigation Administration, and Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, to address the impending water shortage.

The MWSS earlier called for the regulation of water use in businesses with high levels of water consumption such as those engaged in carwash, golf courses, and resorts.

“Ang maapektuhan po kasing household dito sa pagpatuloy ng operations ng carwash kung nasa shortage mode tayo ay nasa 2,000 din po na tao bawat araw,” he said.

He said at least 3,000 households will also benefit if the water consumption of resorts is regulated.

Meanwhile, he clarified that they are only requesting for a regulation and not a closure of these businesses.

“Wala pong mandato si MWSS na patigilin o i-ban po sila sa paggamit,” he said.

MWSS renewed its call to the public to conserve water. –ag
