The low-pressure area (LPA) monitored southwest of Cuyo, Palawan may develop into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours, the state weather bureau said Thursday morning, May 4.
In an advisory issued at 11:00 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Palawan and Western Visayas.
“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA noted.
The LPA was last spotted 75 kilometers southwest of Cuyo, Palawan at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
