Over P268,000 worth of allegedly undocumented imported used clothes or “ukay-ukay” was seized by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at the Port of Matnog in Sorsogon on Tuesday, May 9.
According to PCG, its personnel were inspecting the vicinity when they saw a suspected truck carrying 50 undeclared boxes.
During the inspection, PCG personnel saw that the boxes contained reportedly undocumented “ukay-ukay.” The driver said they were going to Davao City from Matnog in Sorsogon.
The three suspects, one driver and two cargo helpers, remain under the custody of Coast Guard Sub-Station in Matnog.
Meanwhile, investigation and assessment of the incident and the seized items are underway.
