BFP: 18 hurt during Manila Post Office fire

At least 18 persons were hurt during the fire that gutted the Manila Central Post Office Sunday night, May 21, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Of the injured individuals, one was a civilian, one was a fire volunteer, and the remaining 16 were BFP firefighters.

The fire, which lasted for over 30 hours, was declared a fire out at 6:33 a.m. Tuesday.

It reportedly started in the basement of the post office building around 11:41 p.m. The blaze reached the general alarm or the BFP’s highest alarm level at 5:54 a.m. Monday.

Fire damage is currently pegged at P300 million.
