At least 3,821 families or 14,908 individuals were affected by Typhoon ‘Betty’ across six regions as of May 31, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
A total of 5,981 were preemptively evacuated in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas.
Staying inside evacuation centers are 806 from the 1,379 displaced individuals.
No fatalities, injured individuals, and missing persons were reported.
Seven road sections were reported partially or totally not passable.
Assistance provided has so far been estimated at P1,958,008.6 covering affected areas in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
As of 10:00 a.m., Typhoon “Betty” was estimated 375 kilometers (km) east of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 120 km per hour (km/h) and gustiness of up to 150 km/h.
It is moving northeastward at 10km/h.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is currently hoisted over Batanes, while TCWS No. 1 is raised over the northeastern portion of Isabela (Santa Maria, San Pablo, Divilacan, Maconacon, Palanan, Cabagan), Apayao, and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands.
The typhoon may exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday evening or early Friday morning. – gb
