3.5K families affected by Mayon activities

A total of 3,538 families or 12,804 individuals were affected by the looming threat of Mayon Volcano eruption, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Sunday, June 11.

The affected individuals in Ligao, Daraga, Guinobatan, Malilipot, and Tabaco were currently staying at 22 evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, no injured or missing persons have been recorded as of writing.

NDRRMC also reported no casualty.

The municipalities of Camalig, Malilipot, Daraga, Tabaco, and Ligao earlier suspended classes.

The Province of Albay, meanwhile, was put under state of calamity on June 9.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised the alert level of Mayon Volcano to Alert Level 3 on June 8 following an increase in the incidents of rockfall from its summit lava dome from an average of five events daily in May to 49 events per day on June 5. – cf
