A total of 221 rockfall events were observed in the past 24 hours in Mayon Volcano, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Tuesday, June 13.
Sulfur dioxide emissions averaged at 723 tonnes per day were logged on June 12.
Moderate emission of plumes were also seen.
Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3 or “intensified unrest.”
Entry into the six-kilometer radius permanent danger zone is prohibited as well as flying any aircraft close to the volcano.
Possible hazards, including rockfalls, landslides, avalanches, ballistic fragments, lava flows and fountaining, as well as moderate-sized explosions are expected.
