The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) apologized Thursday night, June 15, after its Facebook page was infected by a malware that resulted in the posting of sensitive images.

In a statement, the KWF said its Facebook page fell prey to a cyber or network attack through a malware that can bypass security protocols usually required by the social media platform.

“Kami ay lubos na humingi ng paumanhin at pag-unawa sa pangyayaring ito,” part of the statement read.

The KWF said it has tapped the National Bureau of Investigation – Cybercrime Division and the Department of Information and Communication Technology for immediate action.

It also advised the public to protect their social media accounts to avoid any type of online hacking incident.

In a separate social media post, KWF Director General Marites Barrios Taran said they cannot yet access their page.

–ag
