Dengue cases in Cavite down 14%

TRECE MARTIREZ CITY — The Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) of Cavite has reported 19 cases of death due to dengue for the period of January 1 to Nov. 18, 2017.

The cities/municipalities with reported deaths include the cities of Trece Martirez (7), Dasmarinas (4), Bacoor (2), General Trias (2) and Tagaytay (2) while the municipalities of Silang and Tanza posted 1 death each.

PESU chief Dr. Nelson C. Soriano clarified that these reports on dengue cases in Cavite are not related to the reported Dengvaxia vaccination.

Per PESU report obtained by PNA on Friday, this year’s number of dengue cases is 14% lower compared to the same period last year (4,659 cases) wherein 3,133 (78%) were hospitalized and 59 (1%) were laboratory confirmed.

The city government of General Trias tops the list of reported cases, with 593 affected individuals (15%), from ages one month to 98 years (median, 12 years), mostly affecting males.

Included in the top-10 list are the cities of Dasmarinas – 454; Bacoor – 444; Trece Martires – 428; Imus –338; and Tagaytay –125, as well as the municipalities of Tanza –325; Silang –277; Naic –153; and  Indang — 123.

The  municipalities and  cities with corresponding barangays and number of cases are the following: Molino IV and Paliparan, Bacoor — 444; Salawag and Datu Esmael in Dasmarinas – 454; Buenavista II and Bulihan in Silang –277; while Kaybagal South, Julugan 1 in Tagaytay has 125 cases; Paradahan 1, Tanza – 325; and De Ocampo, Inocencio and Conchu in Trece Martires – 428.
