Longest daytime of 2023 set on June 21

The longest day and shortest night of the year will be on June 21, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (PAGASA).

June 21 marks the June Solstice or the “summer solstice” in the Philippines.

Metro Manila will experience a 13-hour daytime on Wednesday, with the sun expected to rise at 5:28 a.m. and to set at 6:28 p.m.

The summer solstice occurs when one of the Earth’s geographical poles had its maximum tilt towards the sun.

The phenomenon happens twice every year, once in the Northern hemisphere and once in the Southern hemisphere.
