The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned the public from purchasing and using unauthorized pro-clackers or lato-lato.

In an advisory dated June 13, the FDA issued a public health warning against the purchase and use of unauthorized lato-lato with lights and glow-in-the-dark lato-lato under the unauthorized toy and childcare article.

“[The] manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising, or sponsorship of any health product without the proper authorization from the FDA is prohibited,” the advisory read.

“Since the abovementioned unnotified toy and childcare article product has not gone through the notification process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety,” it further read.

FDA said the unauthorized toy product “may pose health risks to consumers.”

The agency also advised against potential hazards of the unauthorized lato-lato, including endocrine disruption and reproductive or development effects as well as injury or choking or suffocation due to its small or broken parts.
