The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said it is still investigating the sexual assault incident within the campus of the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman last Saturday night.

In the July 4 Laging Handa briefing, BGen. Nicolas Torre III, QCPD director, said QCPD is collaborating with the UP police to retrieve CCTV footage and locate the persons of interest.

“So ngayong araw na ‘to, may mga teams din tayo na nagtatrabaho together with UP police para ma-retrieve ang mga CCTV footages at mapuntahan na ang mga persons of interest sa kani-kanilang communities,” he said.

Torre said a retracing and reenactment of the victim’s C.P. Garcia-Commonwealth route was conducted on Monday night.

“Nakita namin na mayroon namang ilaw, mayroon namang CCTV na puwedeng mapagkunan ng clues,” he said.

Meanwhile, Torre said the crime rate in the city has significantly declined.

“So kaya siguro nagiging kakaiba yung ating receptions sa case na ‘yan [sexual assault] sapagkat for so long a time, walang nangyayari sa loob ng UP Diliman,” he said.

Torre advised the public to dial Hotline 122 in case of emergency or assistance is needed, assuring that a human operator will respond within eight seconds. –ag
