A chopped body was found inside a septic tank in New Bilibid Prison (NBP), according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The DOJ said the chopped body was possibly the body of Michael Cataroja, a person deprived of liberty (PDL), who has been missing for 10 days.

“‘Yung nawawalang PDL nahanap na, patay, decapitated. That’s the status of the missing PDL and there will be other revelations in the next few days,” DOJ Secretary Crispin Remulla said.

Remulla said investigations are also underway.

“May dalawang location pong nakita ‘yung mga aso, naamoy [nila] ‘yung damit nung nawawalang preso sa kisame,” NBP Superintendent Angelina Bautista said.

“Right after that, nag-i-indicate po dun sa septic tank, tumahol po ‘yung mga K9 dogs kaya nga po ‘yan ang ine-excavate,” Bautista added.

Bautista said there may be more human remains yet to be found in the septic tank.

“Di pa po tayo makapag-conclude dahil [National Bureau of Investigation] po maglalabas ng official report. Sila po ang may sound wisdom for that,” Bautista continued.

“May nakita po kaninang buto pero di po kami pwedeng makialam,” she added. GB/Louisa Erispe-ag
