Malacañang has suspended classes at all levels and work in government offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday, Sept. 1, due to inclement weather.
Based on Memorandum Circular No. 30 released on Thursday, the suspension is due to “continuous rainfall” brought about by the southwest monsoon or habagat that is enhanced by Super Typhoon “Saola” and Severe Tropical Storm “Hanna”.
“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” the circular noted.
“The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads,” it added.
The Palace earlier suspended classes and work in government offices effective 3:00 p.m. on Thursday due to bad weather.
