6 QCPD cops relieved following viral road rage

Six cops from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) were relieved from their posts following the viral road rage incident.

QCPD Director BGen. Redrico Maranan said Tuesday, Sept. 5, that he directed the relief of six police officers to give way to a “fair and impartial” investigation being conducted on the viral road rage incident on Aug. 8.

The said incident involved Wilfredo Gonzales, a former cop, who pulled out a gun against a cyclist.

Maranan said three personnel from Galas Police Station and three personnel from the District Traffic Enforcement Unit were relieved immediately and were reassigned to the District Personnel Holding and Accounting Section.

Former QCPD Director PBGen. Nicolas Torre III filed his courtesy resignation early last week following the public’s remarks about him after staging a press conference for Gonzales. -ag
