The low pressure area (LPA) southwest of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan province has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next few days, the weather bureau reported Thursday, Nov. 9.
“It is also likely to exit the Philippine area of responsibility within the day,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Patrick del Mundo said.
The LPA, last spotted 395 kilometers west southwest of Puerto Princesa, is forecast to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan. Moderate to heavy rains in these areas may also result in flash floods and landslides.
Light rain showers, on the other hand, will prevail over Batanes and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands due to the northeast monsoon.
The rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will still prevail over Northern Luzon.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
