Dev’t council crafts 5-year traffic plan for CALABARZON

IMUS CITY, Cavite – The Regional Development Council (RDC)-CALABARZON has crafted a five-year traffic management plan to address the worsening traffic situation in the region’s urban centers during its 4th quarter Full Council meeting in Batangas City.

The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA)-CALABARZON, in its report on Thursday, said Batangas Governor and RDC Chairperson Hermilando I. Mandanas steered the council’s 4th quarter meeting in Batangas City on the strategies of CALABARZON’s  (Cavite , Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Traffic Management Plan 2017-2022 such as the construction of bypass and diversion roads.

The RDC also endorsed the conduct of feasibility studies and subsequent funding by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of the Teresa-Marikina-Infanta-Manila East Road and STAR Tollway Tambo-Lipa Exit Flyovers.

The RDC meeting on Dec 5 at the Provincial Capitol Bulwagang Batangan focused discussions on strategic actions and outcomes of the development policies and projects implemented by the council members during the 3rd full council meeting.

It also passed various resolutions like the formulation of the Calabarzon Regional Statistical Development Program 2018-2023; support to the continued tax exemption of cooperatives; and the Calabarzon Expanded Results Matrices 2017-2022, an adjunct document of the Regional Development Plan.

RDC essential operations were also approved such as the 2018 RDC priority thrusts and activities; 2018 RDC calendar of activities; 2017 Regional Development Report Guidelines; and 2019 RDC Budget Review Guidelines.

The RDC meeting also recognized various agencies and individuals for exemplary acts or services which contributed to the development of the region.

The RDC, as a multi-sector council of government and private sector members, serves as the highest regional socio-economic policy making body which crafts, reviews, assess and endorse or approve development plans, programs and projects for the region. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
