The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday said it will file two additional charges against the suspect in the road rage in Makati City on Tuesday that resulted in the fatal shooting and death of a family driver.

According to PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo, aside from a murder complaint, Gerrard Raymund Yu will face violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code for using fake license plates.

“We are confident na ito pong tao na ito ay siya talagang mismo po ang involved doon,” Fajardo said in a press briefing.

“Case closed po ito dahil nahuli po natin ang suspect at under custody, identified po siya at maisasampa po ang kaso,” the PNP spox added.

The Land Transportation Office have also suspended Yu’s driver’s license for 90 days.

Authorities have arrested the suspect in Pasig City on Wednesday morning through a follow-up investigation and is currently detained at the Makati City police station.

Found at the suspect’s residence were a black Mercedes Benz which contained two license plates along with two pistols allegedly used by the suspect when the shooting incident occurred.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Benjamin Abalos Jr. said the seized firearms underwent ballistic examination and the bullets found at the crime scene matched with the guns found in the suspect’s car.

The paraffin test also yielded a positive result for gunpowder nitrate, Abalos added.

“Ngayon malinaw na ang ebidensiya, minatch na yung baril, may mga nagtuturo na eyewitness. Pati yung kotse, pati yung CCTV, matibay po itong ebidensiyang ito,” the DILG chief said.

Meanwhile, the wake of 65-year-old driver Aniceto Mateo is being held at Santa Ignacia, Tarlac.

Based on the police report, a white Toyota Innova driven by Mateo was travelling along EDSA near the Ayala Tunnel on Tuesday afternoon when he got into an altercation with Yu. The suspect shot Mateo, who died on the spot.

Mateo was with two passengers, including a minor when the shooting occurred. (with report from Patrick de Jesus/PTV) – avds
