PTV marks 50th anniversary with commemorative stamp, mini-museum, and key partnerships

PTV @ 50 LOGO

The People’s Television Network, Inc. (PTV), the country’s premier state broadcaster and television network, proudly marks its 50th anniversary with a series of commemorative activities and initiatives that highlight its rich history and continued commitment to public service.

Commemorative Stamp Unveiling

To celebrate its colorful 50-year history as a television pioneer, PTV will be unveiling a specially designed commemorative stamp which will be made available at all PHLpost postal counters, retailing at P16 each.

The PTV stamp features iconic elements and imagery that represent the network, including the PTV Tower, the network’s play-button logo rendered in the colors of the Philippine flag, and the Bagong Pilipinas logo side by side with a profile of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The stamp memorializes PTV’s journey as a broadcast media institution, actively using technology to push for the Philippine government’s developmental communications agenda, while serving as a vehicle to inform, inspire and empower the viewing public with information.

PTV Mini-Museum Opens to the Public

As part of the celebration, PTV has also opened a mini-museum located on the 2nd floor of the PTV Broadcast Center on Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. The museum is open to the public and is a rich repository of collectibles which educational institutions, media practitioners, and students specializing in mass communication and broadcasting can freely access to view and appreciate.

The mini-museum offers visitors a nostalgic journey through the network’s storied past, showcasing memorabilia from its inaugural year in 1974 to the present day. The exhibit includes historical photos, annual reports, sales flyers, and a fascinating array of broadcast equipment and technologies, illustrating the transition from analog to digital broadcasting. This initiative underscores PTV’s commitment to preserving its heritage and educating future generations about the evolution of media in the Philippines.

Rejoining the KBP

In another significant development, PTV announces its return as a member of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP). A KBP member until 1998, PTV’s reentry into the media organization underscores its dedication to upholding the highest standards of broadcasting ethics and practices. This membership aligns with PTV’s mission to provide quality, credible, and timely information to the Filipino public, especially in the age of digital media and amidst the growing threat of disinformation and fake news.

Partnership Talks with FILSCAP

Looking ahead, PTV is in discussions with the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP) to secure accreditation for the use of copyrighted and licensed music in its broadcasts and streaming services. This partnership aims to enhance PTV’s programming with a rich selection of music, ensuring compliance with intellectual property laws while enriching the viewing experience for its audience.

A Golden Legacy of Service

As PTV celebrates five decades of broadcasting excellence, these initiatives not only commemorate its past achievements but also pave the way for future innovations and partnerships.

Network General Manager Analisa Puod underscores this commitment: “PTV remains steadfast in its mission to serve the Filipino people with integrity, creativity, and a renewed spirit of public service. With more programs and projects in the pipeline, we’re excited for what the future holds for the People’s Television.”
