The Quezon City portion of Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2025, an official of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Tuesday.

The partial operation will consist of 12 stations: North EDSA, Quezon Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Doña Carmen, Regalado Avenue, Mindanao Avenue, Quirino Avenue, and Sacred Heart.

“Magpa-partial operations po tayo ng 12 stations by end of 2025 at inaasahan naman po na ‘yung next station — station 13 [Tala Station] na magiging operational by end of 2026,” DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Aside from the Tala Station in Caloocan City, Aquino said that San Jose del Monte Station in Bulacan will be completed by 2027 once “alignment issues” have been resolved.

The official also assured that the DOTr is working with the local government of San Jose del Monte to realign routes.

“Ongoing ang ating pakikipag-usap sa San Jose Del Monte [LGU]. Nag-schedule kami this June ng inspection ng DOTr, San Miguel Corp., at San Jose LGU para makita ang kanilang proposed alignment at station location,” she said.

As of May this year, the overall progress of the 22-kilometer MRT-7 is at 69.86%.

Once completed, travel time from Quezon City to San Jose del Monte will be reduced to 35 minutes by train from the current two- to three-hour ride. – av
