Private sector and domestic workers (kasambahay) in Northern Mindanao are set to get a higher pay next month.

The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) reported that the Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) Wage Board issued Wage Order No. RX-23, granting a P23 daily wage hike for the non-agriculture sector; and P35 for the agriculture sector to be given in two tranches.

“These wage increases will bring the minimum wage rate in Wage Category 1 to P461; and in Wage Category 2 to P446,” it said in a statement on Friday.

The cities under Wage Category 1 are Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Malaybalay, Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador, and Ozamiz, and the municipalities of Opol, Tagoloan, Villanueva, Jasaan, Maramag, Quezon, Manolo Fortich, and Lugait.

The other areas not mentioned under Wage Category 1, as well as all retail and service establishments employing not more than 10 workers, are under the Wage Category 2.

On the other hand, the Northern Mindanao wage board also issued Wage Order RX-DW-05, approving an additional P1,000 monthly minimum wage increase for domestic workers in the region.

“The increase brings the monthly minimum wage for domestic workers in the region to P6,000,” said the NWPC.

The current minimum wage rate per month for domestic workers in Northern Mindanao is at P5,000.

Both wage orders take effect on Jan. 12, 2025.
