Korea hikes visa fee

MANILA— The visa application fee for South Korea will increase from PHP2,700 to PHP3,000, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said.

In particular, the increase will cover Employment Permit System (EPS) workers, who are applying for E-9 visas.

The new visa fee will be effective January 1, 2018, as announced by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines.

“The visa application fee for more than 90 days stay in South Korea (not applicable for tourists) is increased from PHP2,700 to PHP3,000,” said the POEA in an advisory.

The agency said that the Government Placement Branch (GPB) would  continue to collect the visa fee of PHP2,700 until Dec. 28, 2017 only.

“(This is) provided that the visa requirements, including the original copy of the DSSM medical result, are complete,” it added.

The POEA said EPS workers, who would submit their visa applications from Dec. 29, 2017 onwards, would have to pay the visa fee of PHP3,000.

Only through the government-to-government agreement, EPS, can overseas Filipino workers be sent to South Korea to gain employment. (Ferdinand G. Patinio/PNA)
