President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led efforts to enhance access to digital education and basic learning needs in Marawi City, underscoring his administration’s commitment to making education more accessible to Filipino youth, especially in conflict-affected and remote communities.

As part of his visit this Monday (June 23), the Chief Executive inspected the Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) in Barangay Sagonsongan, where over 720 students are currently enrolled across five schools.

The TLS program is a continuing government intervention that began in the aftermath of the 2017 Marawi siege, providing emergency classrooms for learners whose schools were damaged or rendered inaccessible due to conflict.

The President personally witnessed the installation of a Starlink internet unit—a personal donation to support students and teachers with reliable internet connectivity within the TLS site.

In addition, he is providing one Starlink unit each to the following schools in remote areas of the city:

– Bangon Elementary School

– Bacarat National High School

– Angoyao National High School

– Cabasaran Primary School

Alongside internet kits, the Office of the President also distributed school bags with supplies to all students currently enrolled in the TLS sites.

The President is also set to conduct inspections of other education, medical, and transportation facilities during his series of engagements in Marawi City.

The deployment of Starlink satellite internet to underserved schools is part of the administration’s broader digital infrastructure push, aiming to bridge the education gap in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas across the country. (PNA)
