The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued an advisory at 11:00 a.m. this Sunday, July 6, noting the increased intensity of Typhoon Danas (international name, formerly Bising) as it continues to move within the seaboard of extreme northern Luzon.

The center of Danas was located 385 km west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h and gustiness of up to 150 km/h.

It is moving north-northeastward at 10 km/h and is expected to re-enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) tonight or early Monday morning (July 7), before exiting immediately thereafter.

Danas is expected to steadily intensify over the next 24 hours but may weaken as it hovers over the East China Sea due to unfavorable conditions, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau has raised a gale warning over the northern seaboard of Luzon citing strong winds and high waves.

Very rough seas are expected in the seaboards of Batanes and the western Babuyan Islands, with waves reaching up to 4.5 meters high, making travel risky for all types of vessels.

The western seaboard of Ilocos Norte may experience 3.5 meter-high waves, while the seaboards of northwestern Ilocos Sur and remaining coastal areas of Ilocos Norte may experience 2.5 meter-high waves.

Western coasts of La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales may experience moderate seas with waves peaking at 2 meters in height.

The agency has also urged concerned government agencies, local government units, disaster response offices, and residents in affected areas to continue monitoring for official updates and bulletins.
