Over 10,000 visitors logged in within the first hour of the launch of the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) online license renewal system through the eGovPH mobile application on Thursday.
In a statement Friday, LTO Acting Assistant Secretary Greg Pua Jr. said the number of users is “proof of a drastic change in the terrain of government services and transactions” and the preference of the public towards digital platforms.
“Gone are the days when our clients would be absent or take a leave of absence for their LTO transactions because they can now do so from the comfort of their homes, in their offices, and even in any part of the country,” he said.
Pua said LTO’s digitalization efforts are in line with the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to shift all government transactions to the digital platform.
“This is beneficial not only to busy local employees but also to our millions of OFWs abroad,” he said.
To avail of the online license renewal through the online driver’s license renewal system (ODLRS), LTO clients need to download and install the eGovPH app on their smartphone, available both in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Applicants may also book a telemedicine appointment on the ODLRS portal to complete their medical examination and take the online Driver’s Enhancement Program (DEP)—requirements to complete a license renewal with the LTO.
Once the application is complete and fees are paid, applicants will immediately have an electronic driver’s license on the eGovPH app.
They may also choose to have a physical card delivered to their preferred address or have it ready for pick-up at the nearest LTO district office.
