In a separate event at Malacañang this Monday, July 14, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. swore in two government officials that would take the reins of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and Department of Energy (DOE), respectively.

Chief among them was Acting PCO Sec. Dave Gomez, who replaces former Sec. Jay Ruiz as the fifth leader of the government’s communications arm under the Marcos Jr. administration.

President Marcos greeted the newly appointed official on social media, “Binabati ko si Acting PCO Secretary Dave Gomez.

The President spoke highly of Gomez’s background in media and public service, citing it as key towards ensuring efficient and factual communication of the government’s various initiatives to the masses.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive also swore in Sharon Garin as the new Energy Secretary, which would replace former DOE Chief Raphael Lotilla. The latter assumed the position of former DENR Secretary Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, who served as the Environment chief from 2022 to 2025.

The Chief Executive cited Garin’s extensive knowledge and experience in formulating legislation as the cornerstone of bolstering his administration’s energy agenda.
