TD Mirasol landfall expected Wednesday

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Tropical Depression Mirasol’s continuing track towards the Isabela-Aurora area in its 5:00 p.m. bulletin Tuesday.

Mirasol was last located 210 km east-northeast of Infanta, Quezon, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h, as it moves northwestward at 25 km/h.

PAGASA placed several areas of Luzon under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1:

  • Batanes
  • Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands
  • Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya
  • Northern and central portions of Aurora
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • Abra
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Polillo Islands
  • Northern portion of Camarines Norte
  • Northeastern portion of Camarines Sur
  • Catanduanes

The state weather bureau, meanwhile, issued a storm surge warning in the coastal areas of Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Batanes, eastern seaboards of Isabela and Aurora, and the northern seaboard of Ilocos Norte, with up to 2.5-meter waves expected in these areas.

Heavy rainfall due to TD Mirasol is expected over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Aurora on Wednesday, and over Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte on Thursday.
