1,548 pushers, users arrested in war on drugs in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, June 23 — Based on the Consolidated Accomplishment Report of Project Double Barrel (PDB) in Pangasinan from July 1, 2007 to date, a total of 1,548 drug pushers and users in the province were already arrested.

Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, head of the police community relations, provided the update in the war on Drugs in Pangasinan.

He said the 1,548 drug pushers and users were arrested in a total of 1,461 operations conducted by the police in various towns and cities of the province.

The number included 1,341 drug pushers and 207 users.

The operations consisted of 414 search warrants and 45 warrants of arrest served, 886 buy-busts, 39 Oplan Sita, 67 police response and 10 checkpoint operations conducted.

The number of deaths in these police operations remained at 33, and one of those who died was a policeman.

There were 666.3 grams of shabu and 649.61 grams of marijuana that were confiscated so far, said Florentino.

Of the 1,364 barangays in Pangasinan, at least 1,269 were listed as drug-affected. A total of 95 barangays are unaffected.

To date, the number of cleared barangays stood at 1,088. There are 181 barangays that still need to be cleared.

There are now three places in Pangasinan that were already declared by the Philip[pine Rug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as cleared. These are Laoac, Alaminos City and Agno.
