Consistent with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s earlier directive to expedite and ensure assistance to quake victims in Cebu, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) welcomed the deployment of additional workers by private firms in setting up the ‘Bayanihan Village’ in San Remigio town.

In a press release on Wednesday, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling noted two private companies that contributed manpower to augment installers of modular shelter units (MSUs) that will serve as temporary shelters for the displaced residents.

The DHSUD deployed at least 45 MSUs, which are now being set up in the Bayanihan Village in Barangay Poblacion, San Remigio.

DHSUD’s initiative complements those from other government agencies, which aim to help the quake-affected families to rebuild their lives following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rocked the Visayan island province on September 30. (with report from Denisse Osorio | PTV News)
