Majority of Filipinos across socio-economic classes and the archipelago are supporting lawmakers in the House of Representatives as proceedings for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte commenced on Tuesday.

This, as 69% of Filipinos asserted that Duterte should be held accountable for various allegations of misconduct and abuse of authority, according to the results of the March 2026 Tugon ng Masa survey conducted by OCTA Research.

Further, the survey shows Visayas respondents as having the highest support for the impeachment trial at 83%, closely followed by National Capital Region (NCR) at 81%, and with Balance Luzon and Mindanao at 69% and 61% respectively.

A closer look at the demographic composition of the participants shows that Filipinos aged 18-24 have the strongest sentiment towards the impeachment of the second-highest government official at 77%, followed by those aged 35-44 at 73%, and those aged 45-54 at 60%.

Rounding up the results, 87% of these respondents said that they were aware of the impeachment proceedings, while 12% were unaware.

These findings underscore the citizenry’s clamor for accountability from government officials, with people in power expected to perform their functions accordingly, be held liable for their actions and statements, and honor the country’s judicial system by undergoing due process when called out by lawmakers or the masses.

The polls were conducted between March 19-25, 2026 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult respondents, which generally represents all Filipinos across the Philippines.
