Amid a backdrop of an ongoing impeachment trial against the country’s second-highest government official, Filipinos are keeping a close tab on the progress of the quest towards truth and accountability.
This, as results from the recent Tugon Ng Masa survey conducted by OCTA Research between July 4 and July 11, 2026 show that 43% of Filipinos consider bribery as the leading impeachment charge against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Breaking down the figures by area shows that almost half of the respondents in the National Capital Region (47%), the Visayas (54%), and Mindanao (43%) agree that bribery is the most serious allegation against the former Education Secretary.
Findings categorized according to socioeconomic groups reveal uniformity in treating bribery as the leading impeachment charge, with Class ABC (37%), Class D (43%), and Class E (50%) considering this malpractice as the most pressing issue being tackled in the proceedings.
This broad national response is also reflected across every age cohort, with participants aged 25-34 (52%) and 35-44 (46%) identifying bribery as a noteworthy accusation against Duterte.
Other charges against the Vice President, such as misuse of confidential funds (28%), unexplained wealth (10%), and grave threats (10%), show that the Filipinos categorize various impeachment allegations according to their gravity and seriousness.
These percentages moreover reflect the citizenry’s pulse on allegations involving corruption, which continue to resonate with public opinion on how developments in the impeachment trial were interpreted.
The non-partisan poll was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults aged 18 and above representing the vast majority of Filipinos, with a ±3% margin of error at the 95% confidence level.
