Palace elated as PRRD remains PH’s most trusted official

MANILA — Malacanang on Monday welcomed as good news a survey showing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as again the most trusted and approved government official of the land.

According to the last quarter survey conducted by Pulse Asia from Dec. 10-15, 2017, President Duterte got the highest approval at 80 percent and highest trust rating at 82 percent among the country’s top five national officials.

“His numbers showed that our people are aware of and recognizes the significant strides the President undertook in his one and in half years in office,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press briefing.

President Duterte was the only official who succeeded in scoring majority approval and trust ratings across geographic areas and socio-economic classes.

He received 72 percent to 93 percent and 77 percent to 85 percent approval rating across geographic areas and in all socio-economic classes, respectively.

On the other hand, the President also got 74 percent to 94 percent and 78 percent to 85 percent trust rating across geographic areas and in socio-economic classes, respectively.

“We show our people that he will continue to discharge his duties with the nation’s interest foremost in his mind,” Roque said.

The Palace has urged the Filipinos to put their appreciation into action by standing us and helping the government as “we continue to address the problem of poverty, illegal drug, criminality and corruption.”

Duterte bested Vice President Leny Robredo who got approval rating of 59 percent; Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III with 57 percent; House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez (42 percent); and, Supreme Court Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno (31 percent).

On the other hand, Robredo is the second most trusted official with 58% followed by Pimentel (53 percent), Alvarez (37 percent) and Sereno (27 percent).

Out of 1,200 respondents, only 7 percent said they disapproved the President’s work while 6 percent distrusted the country’s popular leader. (PNA)
