Duterte designates Hermogino as new PCG commandant

MANILA — Malacañang on Monday released the appointment of Elson Hermogino as new commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Hermogino’s appointment paper last January 4, replacing PCG commandant Rear Admiral William Melad.

Hermogino is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1985 and was a Maritime Safety Service Commander prior to his appointment.

On January 4, President Duterte approved the appointment of four PCG Rear Admirals: Josel S. Garcia, Rolando D. Legaspi, Leopoldo Laroya, and Hermogino.

PCG is one of the attached agencies of the Department of Transportation headed by Secretary Arthur Tugade. (PNA)
